Hi, I'm Sandi D.

 

I draw my inspiration from the physical realm and beyond. Born in New York City, but raised on eastern Long Island, as a child I gazed at the clouds and pondered reflections on the idyllic beaches of Southampton, New York.

 

Patterns, creatures, faces, and other oddities and entities emerge from my quotidian, leading to unexpected discoveries. 

 

My introduction to photography included an antique box camera that my mom found at an auction, followed by a Kodak instamatic. My interest, having lain dormant throughout the rise of the 35 mm camera's popularity, was reignited through the instant gratification of the iPhone camera.

 

 I overcame my reluctance to experiment with manual settings after borrowing a Canon digital SLR. These experiments spawned my thirst for further developing technique.

 

My work tends to flow from digital endeavors which marry well with mixed media techniques. Finding my creative flow has proven to be an effective stress management tool.
